At Skaer Veterinary Clinic, we run a wide range of in-house veterinary diagnostics for dogs and cats from Wichita, Derby, Bel Aire, Park City, Maize, Haysville, Schulte, and Oatville — bloodwork, urinalysis, cultures, cytology, parasite screening, and more. Many results are ready the same day, so we can move quickly from question to answer to treatment.

In-House Diagnostic Capabilities
The tests we run on-site — so we can act on the answers the same day, in most cases.
Bloodwork and lab panels
Complete blood counts, chemistry panels, thyroid function, liver and kidney function, blood glucose, and more. Results from in-house lab work are often available the same day.
Urinalysis
A urine test can reveal a lot — kidney disease, diabetes, urinary tract infections, and more. Quick, non-invasive, and genuinely informative.
Cultures and sensitivity testing
When we suspect an infection, we can culture samples to identify exactly what’s causing it and which medications will work best.
Cytology
Examining cells under a microscope to evaluate lumps, skin conditions, ear infections, and fluid samples.
Parasite screening
Fecal tests to check for intestinal parasites, heartworm testing, and tick-borne disease panels.

Diagnostic Questions Answered
How quickly will I get results?
Many routine blood and urine tests are processed in our in-house lab with results available the same day. Some specialised tests are sent to an external lab and typically take 24–72 hours.
Does my pet need to fast before bloodwork?
For some tests, yes. We’ll let you know in advance what preparation is needed.
What if you find something serious?
We’ll talk you through it clearly and honestly. We’ll explain what it means, what the options are, and what we recommend — in plain language, without pressure.
Can you test for specific things I'm worried about?
Often, yes. If you’ve noticed something specific — changes in drinking, weight loss, lethargy — tell us at the appointment. We can often target testing to what’s most relevant.
